About Me

My editorial philosophy is to approach your project with sensitivity and respect. As a writer myself, I understand that sharing your project can make you feel vulnerable and requires trust. As your editor my goal is to offer kindness, curiosity, and candor.

The short story about me is that I loved writing in school, that I earned BA and MA degrees in English, and that I grew up to become a writer and editor.

The longer story about me is that I thought I wanted to be an engineer, worked jobs including but not limited to dairy barn assistant, biochemistry lab assistant, neuropsychology lab assistant, special needs nanny, and English language tutor. After I rerouted from science to literary studies, I worked as an undergraduate Writing Fellow and graduated with honors from UW-Madison with bachelor’s degrees in English and Psychology.

I moved to South Korea to teach English to children, then returned to the U.S. to earn a master's degree in English at Marquette. During graduate school I taught Freshman Composition and Rhetoric and completed research and editorial work for tenured professors. After graduation I took a software-testing position at Epic Systems.

After nearly 7 years, I left Epic to be home full-time with my young children. I also resumed writing. In 2020 I entered the Wisconsin Writers Association Jade Ring contest and won first place for nonfiction. At the same time I began freelance editing and taught Memoir through UW Continuing Studies. After my earlier journeys into science and software, I ultimately returned to where I am at home: with words, reading, books, analysis, teaching, nurturing, and editing.

I write and edit memoir and creative nonfiction. I am especially attuned to topics of childhood trauma, parentification, mental illness, mother loss, and parenting, though I am interested in all kinds of personal stories. When I’m not reading, writing, or editing I can be found with my four kids: at the park, going to lessons, or playing fairies in the yard.

My name is pronounced CaMEllia SENnick.
